PSC732 Child’s Basic Hat & Mittens
Penny Straker Designs
Yarn: Worsted & Bulky Weight
Level: Beginner
Sizes: Caps & Mitts; Small, Medium & Large
A popular and practical pattern for a traditional cap, written for both worsted weight on #7 needles, and bulky weight on #10 needles. Many knitters have told me that it is their ‘go to’ pattern for fall and winter knitting for their families!
The four-needle mitts in worsted weight are easy to follow, even for beginners. And all knitters enjoy P.S. Pointers, little knitting lessons, which are included in the instructions. Seasoned knitters appreciate them, too, as we all love to add another tip to our ‘tool’ bag!
Be adventurous and add stripes of many colors, or a band of pattern just above the ribbed cuffs -on the mitts, too. The set is tough and warm in a sturdy worsted-spun or raw wool -soft and feminine in an alpaca blend, but they are especially good for toddlers in the soft, non-allergic, machine-washable Superwash wools. A must-have for your pattern library.
