I make soap and wanted something special for gift giving that was also functional. I decided to design these Lace Exfoliators in 4 knitted lace designs. They are knit in 100% cotton and, when tied with a ribbon, are pretty for gifts when giving your favorite handmade soap. Use with the soap on the inside as an exfoliator in the bath or shower. I chose the lace patterns for their beauty and texture, using both Barbara Walker’s “A Treasury of Knitting Patterns” and Harmony Guide’s “Lace & Eyelets”.
Materials: Berroco Pure Pima: 115 yds/50 g) ~ 1 skein will make 3 lace exfoliators.
♥ Needles: 4.25 mm (#6 US) double point needles
♥ Point Protector ~ I use this on one end of DPN for casting on.
♥ Tapestry needle for weaving in ends
♥ Stitch Markers
Gauge: Gauge is not crucial in this pattern, but 5.5 sts/1” in Stst will get you the approximate gauge you need. If you are a tight knitter, you may want to move up one needle size.
Size will vary slightly with each pattern, but finished dimensions will fit an average size bar of soap.
