Fern Lace is an early lace pattern that can be found in the Boston Museum, appearing on a Mid-European knitted lace sampler dating from the first half of the nineteenth century. The pattern and its variations can be found in stitch pattern books including 365 Knitting Stitches A Year, Harmony Guide’s Lace & Eyelets, and Heirloom Knitting by Sharon Miller. It has a light and airy look resembling delicate fern fronds.
Materials:
Wisdom Yarns Poems Sock (459 yds/100 gr) – 1 skein
♥ Needles – 4.50 mm (#7 US) 16” circular or 9” straight needles
♥ Stitch Marker
♥ Tapestry needle for weaving in ends
Gauge: 3 pattern repeats equals 5 inches, although gauge is not crucial.
Finished Size: 9.5” wide x 64” long ~ cast on more or less stitches in multiples of 9 to change the width.
