I designed this hat for my dear friend Bonny, who is undergoing chemotherapy for pancreatic cancer. She has always had long, beautiful hair, but cut it recently when it began falling out from treatment. I wanted the design to be meaningful to her, so I chose this lovely braid that I found in “Enchanted Knitting” by Catherine Cartwright-Jones and Roy Jones. The world is a better place with Bonny in it, I am thankful to have her in my life.
Materials: Ultra Alpaca Light (144 yds/50 g) – 1 skein Main Color (MC), 1 skein for each Contrast Color (CC1, CC2, CC3). You can do all 3 braids in the same color using only 1 skein for Contrast Color if you prefer.
♥ Needles – One 16” 3.75mm (#5 US) circular needle, one 16” 4.00mm (#6 US) circular needle, and one set of 4 or 5 double point needles (DPN) in #6 US, or appropriate size to achieve gauge.
♥ Stitch Marker
♥ Tapestry needle for weaving in ends.
Size: Small 18”, (Medium 20”, Large 22”) head circumference.
Gauge: 22 sts per 4” in Stst using 4.00 mm (#6 US) needles, or size to achieve gauge.
