FD-42 Ancamna Tunic

Tunic design originally published in Love of Knitting, Spring 2010 under the name Denim Lace Tunic. As of mid February, 2011, publication rights have reverted to us. We’ve renamed the pattern Ancamna, which was its original name on submission, had it tech edited, and have re-released it through our normal distribution channels.  Ancamna (ahn-kam-nah) is a water goddess from continental Celtic mythology, known from inscriptions in the Moselle valley, near the German city of Trier, northeast of Luxembourg. As both the color and the fluidity of the lines created by the different stitch patterns remind me of water, naming this design Ancamna seemed fitting.  Tunic can be worn equally well over a dress or pants. The lower hem is wide for ease of wearing, and to give it a fun little swing. The cable and lace stitch in the skirt morphs into a simple cable stitch for the bodice.

Yarn: DK weight yarn: 872 [981, 1090, 1308, 1526] yards.
Gauge: 19.5 sts and 27.25 rows to 4 inches in pattern stitch, blocked
Needles: US 4 (3.5 mm) and US 5 (3.75 mm), or size required for gauge.
Finished size: Extra small [small, medium, large, extra large].
Notions: Cable needle, stitch markers, stitch holders.
